No separate funding application is required.

The application for admission to the EUI doctoral programme is automatically an application for a national scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant shall be a Bulgarian citizen (regardless of the country of residence) or a citizen of another member state of the European Union, who has resided permanently in Bulgaria for not less than 5 years by the deadline for application.
  • The applicant shall have acquired educational and qualification degree Master by the training start date (September 1st every year).
  • The applicant shall have a Master’s degree diploma with a Grade Point Average of minimum "Very good 5" or the respective equivalent from the evaluation system in the country, where the degree is obtained.

Grant and Allowances

Monthly grant: 1.500 € per month (entry into force in academic year 2023-24)

Family allowance: 225 € per dependent/per month.

Travel allowance: 350 € per year.

Health Insurance: the medical insurance cover is provided to the scholarship holders and their dependents.

The authority provides a monthly grant for the first three years of EUI Ph.D. Programme. The fourth year is covered by the EUI (2024 EUI fourth-year grant is 1.505 € per month, in addition to other allowances).
