No separate funding application is required.
An application to the EUI is automatically also an application to the Swedish Research Council for a Ph.D. grant. Candidates should apply for admission to the EUI Doctoral Programme using the EUI online application form for this purpose.

Sökande som uppfyller minst ett av nedanstående krav är behöriga:
- svensk medborgare,
- folkbokförd i Sverige,
- avlagt en examen på avancerad nivå vid en svensk högskola.
Alla sökande ska uppfylla grundläggande behörighet till utbildning på forskarnivå enligt Högskoleförordning (1993:100) kap.7, § 39, första stycket. Sökande ska vid tidpunkten för ansökan ha:
- avlagt en examen på avancerad nivå,
- fullgjort kursfordringar om minst 240 högskolepoäng, varav minst 60 högskolepoäng på avancerad nivå, eller
- på något annat sätt inom eller utom landet förvärvat i huvudsak motsvarande kunskaper.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who meet at least one of the following requirements are eligible to apply:
- Swedish citizen,
- listed in the Swedish Population Register,
- has been awarded a second-cycle qualification from a Swedish university.
All candidates shall meet the general entry requirements for third-cycle courses and study programmes stated in the first paragraph of Section 39, Chapter 7 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100). A candidate shall, at the time of application:
- have been awarded a second-cycle qualification,
- have satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second cycle, or
- have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
Grants and Allowances
Monthly Grant: 2.706 €, including €350 per month for private pension savings.
Travel allowance: 10.000 SEK/year.
Health Insurance: Yes.
Child Allowance: 300 €/month.
The Authority provides a monthly grant for the first three years of EUI Ph.D. Programme. The fourth year is covered by the EUI (2026 EUI fourth-year grant is 1.650 EUR per month, in addition to other allowances). The authority pays a top-up and other allowances.
