How were the many uses of history conceived of and argued over in the past? How do we, today, understand the role of history in society, and how should we understand it? How is our current understanding influenced by the principles and practices of the past? The third graduate conference convened by the Intellectual History Working Group will discuss the uses of history past and present, touching on history as redemption narrative, as political self-justification, as a source of philosophical or theoretical insight, as a current professional practice, and more, with speakers from a range of leading universities and keynote lecture by Håkon Evju (University of Oslo).
