In this session organised by the EUI International Economic Law and Policy Working Group, Andreas Kulick will present a European Research Council (ERC) proposal in its final stages before submission.

Abstract

The ERC project (COIINS) aims at examining the scope and limits of corporate influence on international legal norm-setting. In contrast to most of the current literature, COIINS will study corporations not merely as norm-takers, i.e. as object of international regulation, but primarily as norm-makers in international law. For this purpose, COIINS will pursue the following four objectives, submitted as four research questions:

(1) Do corporations influence international legal norm-setting and if so, how?

(2) How does such influence challenge current international legal doctrine and theory?

(3) Which theoretical and doctrinal instruments serve best to address these challenges?

(4) How should international law adapt in order to respond to these challenges?

The full proposal will be distributed to registered participants on Friday, February 25, 2022. This event is open to all. Please register via the following link by Friday, February 25, 2022, COB indicating whether you would like to attend the event in person or online.
