The concept of "the Global" is taken-for-granted across much legal scholarship. Whether stated as global inequality, global markets, or the global South, the term is shrouded in absoluteness. In fact, re-examining the concept provokes intuitions that physicists and geographers are better consulted over public and private lawyers. Yet, legal practices today suggest modern assumptions on space and time are losing real-world traction, and rapidly. Traditional premises on how space and time are bound, historically and materially, now confront disruptive practices of reterritorialization and retemporalisation. This workshop targets the "misplaced concreteness" that defines how international, public, and private lawyers have visualized global space(s) and time(s). We seek to examine dynamics where space and time undergo (re)bounding, whether in past, present or future legal arrangements. The core question we aim to explore across a variety of legal contexts is: how do spatiality and/or temporality become produced in particular legal projects or contexts?
