Sovereignty, Solidarity and Identity in the EU post 2008 This work-in-progress seminar is part of the ERC-funded SOLID project on 'Policy crisis and crisis politics. Sovereignty, solidarity and identity in the EU post-2008'. In this seminar, Kate Alexander Shaw, Joseph Ganderson and Anna Kyriazi will discuss conceptual issues in the study of crisis. The session will discuss whether a clear definition of crisis is needed or too constraining. Moreover, we consider to what extent and how crises are constructed, notably through contestation of what type of a crisis it is. Finally, the seminar will consider the emergence of polycrisis as an analytical category and political object, and outline a research agenda for theorising a period of overlapping crises. Researchers who are interested in attending the seminar should get in touch with Waltraud Schelkle (waltraud.schelkle(at)eui.eu) as seminar attendance is by invitation only.
