The EUI Qualitative and Fieldwork Working Group hosts a session with Dr Balsa Lubarda (Far-Right Analysis Network), who will be presenting his doctoral research on far-right environmentalism in Eastern Europe.
For his doctoral thesis, Dr Lubarda conducted a longitudinal and multi-sited ethnography of far-right groups in Poland and Hungary to uncover their stance and strategies when it comes to environmental policies. Dr Lubarda is currently finalising a book manuscript of the research to be published with Routledge in 2023.
In this Qualifie session, Dr Lubarda will provide an overview of his research on far-right ecologism in Poland and Hungary. He will focus on the main findings from his forthcoming book and talk about strategies for conducting multi-sited ethnographic fieldwork research at the intersection of environmental and far-right politics.
In the second part of the session, Dr Lubarda will also reflect on his experience with turning a doctoral thesis into a book. He will provide practical tips and strategies for PhD students on how to think ahead when writing their doctoral thesis (including many ethical and administrative considerations) and what to expect (and avoid) when dealing with academic publishers.
