The STG Talks, held weekly, serve as a space for discussion for the STG community and beyond. Led by the STG Fellows, the talks are a place for informal learning and exchange on global issues affecting different areas of policymaking.
This STG Talk aims to trigger a discussion on the leadership we need to face present and emerging global security challenges.
We live in an unpredictable world. The existing transnational governance approaches have failed to deliver viable solutions for the security challenges we face. The future promises to tax the system even further. The increase in the number of actors, the existence of multiple platforms that enable information exchange at a dizzying speed, and the shifts in global power have changed the paradigms of national and transnational security in both positive and negative ways.
The talk will explore what transformative leadership would look like:
- when institutions think about and develop solutions for existing and emerging security challenges;
- when defining the role of the media and journalists;
- when defining the role of the people.
