This session features a presentation by Nuna Zekić (Tilburg University).

Dr. Nuna Zekic analyses temporary agency work. Of all non-standard forms of employment, temporary agency work is probably the most flexible and atypical employment relationship. The EU Directive 2008/104/EC on Temporary Agency Work had a twofold goal: on the one hand, to improve the working conditions of agency workers and on the other hand, to contribute to the development of flexible forms of working. However, in many EU Member States, temporary agency workers are still in very precarious positions and there are serious concerns about abuse of this type of employment. The presentation will explain these problems and explore possible avenues for a more effective Temporary Agency Work Directive.

Dr. Nuna Zekic is currently associate professor at the Department of Private, Business and Labour Law (PBLL), Tilburg University. She will join University of Amsterdam as of 1 June 2023. Her expertise lies in the area of labour law and more precisely, dismissal law, flexible working arrangements and collective bargaining. She has been a visiting researcher at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and Lund University in Sweden.
