hybrid event - Sala del Consiglio and via Zoom

This full-day workshop is intended for researchers and post-docs and brings together two experts from the world of book publishing.

The morning session will be run by Marisa Pagano, an industry veteran and Harvard writing instructor with broad experience in scholarly and commercial publishing.

Marisa's segment will be devoted to the fundamentals of the book proposal as well as the diverse requirements of academic and trade publications.

The afternoon session will feature another hour with Marisa Pagano, as well as a presentation by Michael Watson, Head of Trade Publishing and Executive Publisher at Cambridge University Press. Michael will cover the Anglo-American market and the wider editorial market for historians.

Workshop participants will thus acquire insights into both the practical considerations of the book proposal and the larger commercial conditions that in no less a manner shape the trajectory of a book from initial submission to contract to eventual publication.

The event will be held in Sala del Consiglio and in hybrid mode. Please register in order to reserve your seat or to get the zoom link.
