Marco Gerbaudo will present the paper 'The social impact of legal clinics: the case study of UASI' addressing the issue that while legal safeguards exist, they often fall short, exacerbated by linguistic barriers that can push migrants to the fringes of the judicial system. To bridge this gap, legal clinics have emerged in Italy, blending higher education with social justice initiatives. Biljana Meiske will present the paper 'Queen Bee Immigrant: the effects of status perceptions on immigration attitudes' which investigates a unique phenomenon observed in Western democracies, where some immigrants oppose newer waves of immigration. The study, centered on immigrants in Germany, suggests that when these individuals perceive their national or ethnic group as lower-ranked in societal hierarchies, they exhibit more negative attitudes towards even lower-ranked groups, especially when this perception is reinforced by negative evaluations.
