This year's Summer Academy provides a fresh perspective on the major challenges faced by contemporary European societies, offering a rich programme that includes the participation of EUI SPS faculty members, Professors Jeff Checkel, Stefano Guzzini, Juho Härkönen, Filip Kostelka, Valentina Di Stasio, Waltraud Schelkle, and Arnout van de Rijt.
The Summer Academy will provide a fresh perspective on the major challenges faced by contemporary European societies. In what shape is Europe’s democracy? Does it face a crisis? What can be done to level inequalities and meet Europeans’ aspirations for a fairer, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive society? What is the role of Europe in the world order? These and other related topics will be systematically analysed and discussed by the SPS Summer Academy participants.
The Academy is a chance for participants to have a full-immersion experience in the academic and social life of the EUI. Participants will attend a mix of lectures and workshops, and have the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from both peers and faculty. A tour of the city and other social activities are also planned.
During the course, participants will take part in plenary lectures and discuss cutting-edge research currently undertaken at the Department of Political and Social Sciences. Participants will also be invited to present their research work or ideas and to discuss them with leading scholars in the field and equally enthusiastic peers.
Finally, Professor Valentina Di Stasio will deliver a keynote lecture on The cumulative impact of discrimination: a research agenda whereas the Guest Lecturer, Professor Galia Chimiak (Polish Academy od Sciences), will deliver a guest lecture entitled All of Us … Fighting for Ukraine and for Democracy Values : Americans of East European Descent Supporting Ukraine Following the Full-Scale Aggression of Russia.
This event is now closed for registrations.
