Yet, with its 2008 invasion of Georgia, a qualitative change occurred in Russian foreign policy, as the country morphed from a 'status quo power' into a revisionist and revanchist state. The Russian aggression on Ukraine, of 24 February 2022, has sparked the largest conflict in Europe since World War II. This lecture explores the implications of the invasion on the security and stability of the Western Balkan states, considered by Russia as another sphere of its influence and interest. Partners
