Now that the DSA has entered into force and the first round of designated services has submitted their compliance homework to the European Commission, it's a great time to take stock of the broader institutional challenges of making the DSA a success in the longer run. The DSA not only creates a new set of regulatory oversight bodies at the EU and national level, it also aims to enlist and empowers a range of other stakeholders, through specific rights, procedures, and data flows. Think of researchers, dispute resolution bodies, trusted flaggers, and end-user communities. What are these relevant actors and when would their participation in the ecosystem be called a success? Where is relevant funding to participate in this regulatory ecosystem going to come from (and how will distributional issues play out in practice)? What are reasonable expectations for this setup to mature and pay off? Related events
