In this week’s Africa’s Potential series, Nardos Bekele-Thomas and Ciru Mwaura (TBC), will discuss with us the AU Agenda 2063 and general AU reform.
Nardos Bekele-Thomas is the Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). She is the first woman to lead the African Union’s development agency. In addition, Nardos Bekele-Thomas is currently the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kenya. She also served as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Benin from 2008-2013. Nardos Bekele-Thomas is a member of the Group of African Eminent Women, she is a recipient of the prestigious AU/DAF Award of 2015 Woman of Excellence along with the President of Liberia and former President of Malawi. She was also honoured in 2007 as recipient of the Living Legend Achiever’s Award in recognition of her service and leadership role in the promotion of sustainable human development globally, particularly in Africa.
The event is part of the Africa's Potential series, carried out at the School of Transnational Governance, as part of the Young African Leaders Programme (YALP) funded by the European Commission, and is open to the EUI community, YALP alumni and the YALP network.
