We welcome Mr Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister and former Dean of the School of International Affairs at Sciences Po in Paris, to discuss his upcoming report on the future of the Single Market that will be presented at the European Council on 21 March 2024.

2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Single Market developed under the impulse of then Commission President Jacques Delors - an occasion to celebrate the achievements but also to reflect on the future of one of the EU's key assets. In June 2023 the European Council called for an independent High-Level Report on the future of the Single Market to be presented at its meeting of March 2024, the last summit among leaders before the European elections.

In this special event, we are delighted to welcome Mr Enrico Letta – commissioned author of the Report – to discuss the issues and questions regarding the future of the Single Market. In addition to a presentation of the report, the event will serve as an occasion to hear the views from both a panel of fellows and students from the EUI community, as well as the broader public (via an open Q&A from the live audience).

Enrico Letta is the former Dean of the School of International Affairs at Sciences Po Paris (PSIA) and former Italian Prime Minister. He was the General Secretary of the Italian Democratic Party (PD) from 2021 to 2023. Enrico Letta has also been a Member of the Chamber of Deputies between 2006 and 2015. Letta was Minister of European Affairs from 1998 to 1999 and Minister of Industry from 1999 to 2001 and served as Secretary to the Council of Ministers from 2006 to 2008. He is a founding member of the Democratic Party.

The event will be held in the Courtroom of Palazzo Buontalenti, the premises of the Florence School of Transnational Governance, EUI. All are welcome to attend. Please register, indicating if you will attend in person or online. Please note that online viewers will not be able to participate in the Q&A.
