The pervasive influence of major technology firms in shaping our digital lives has become a central aspect of societal debate, from data collection to advertising and from privacy rights to surveillance.
This talk focuses on how digital food system firms use major technology firms' infrastructure, data, and reach in different societal and regulatory settings to facilitate communication and collaboration among individuals and stakeholders, promoting their inclusive participation in the global food system.
Methodologically speaking, we will use Professor Anu Bradford's paradigm of the leading digital powers, exposed in her latest book 'Digital Empires. The Global Battle to Regulate Technology'.
