Join the workshop that will discuss ethical aspects of carrying out qualitative migration research with a focus on precarious work in the context of forced migrant workers.

This workshop is organised by the research project team Accessing migration infrastructure and employment strategies in a time of crisis: Ukraine female war refugees and migrants in Poland and Italy.

As researchers we face ethical challenges that occur at several stages of the research project including research planning, entering and exiting the research field and data analysis. These challenges include power inequalities between researchers and research participants; methodological nationalism when planning research and analyzing data; the language used during the study; stereotypes and biases; trust relationships and responsibilities linked to violations discovered, as well as emotional exhaustion of both researchers and study participants. We will work based on examples from such sectors as domestic work and agriculture.

During the workshop we want to explore the following questions:

-How to prevent epistemic exploitation in migration research?

-How to make psychological support as a standard in migration research?(self- and interviewee-care)

-How to thank interviewees for their contribution?
