Sustainable development chapters in EU Free Trade Agreements

The International Economic Law and Policy Working Group hosts a discussion on Sustainable Development Chapters in the Free Trade Agreements concluded by the EU with Professor Frank Hoffmeister.

This event will feature a presentation by Professor Frank Hoffmeister (Director, Legal Department, European External Action Services), who will focus on the Sustainable Development Chapters in the Free Trade Agreements concluded by the EU. EUI Chair in International Economic Law, Sergio Puig, joins as a discussant.

Frank Hoffmeister is the Director of the Legal Department at the European External Action Services (EEAS) and Professor of International Economic Law in the LLM in International and European Law programme of the Brussels School of Governance. He holds a PhD from the University of Heidelberg. He has vast practical experience in various sections of the European Commission, serving previously as Member of the Legal Service and then Deputy Head of Cabinet of the EU Trade Commissioner. He was also Head of Unit for Trade Defence in DG Trade. Frank Hoffmeister is constantly publishing on new developments more generally in the field of EU External Relations Law, and particularly on EU Trade and Investment.
