The STG Talks, held weekly at the Florence School of Transnational Governance, serve as a space for discussion for the entire EUI community. Led by the Policy Leader Fellows, the Talks are a place for informal learning and exchange on global issues affecting different areas of policymaking.

Entrepreneurship is a powerful engine for creating jobs and boosting economic autonomy worldwide. Governments and aid agencies have long focused on scaling entrepreneurship, with an increasing emphasis on women. These efforts are paying off—women now make up one in three growth-oriented entrepreneurs globally. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), 30.2% of women entrepreneurs plan to hire six or more employees in the next five years, compared to just 18.7% in 2019.

However, despite progress, a stark gender gap persists. Women are still less likely than men to start a business, secure funding, or own established enterprises. Fragmented policies and support systems have hindered the full potential of women-led ventures, creating latency in scaling women entrepreneurship programs. This when the landscape of entrepreneurship itself is changing with OECD focussing on Inclusive Entrepreneurship. Unlocking entrepreneurial talent across the population contributes to inclusive and sustainable growth, labour market attachment and social and financial inclusion. Inclusive entrepreneurship policies aim to offer all people an equal opportunity of creating a successful business, regardless of their gender, age, place of birth or other personal characteristics.

It's time to rethink our approach. This STG Talk will dive into strategies for building a holistic, end-to-end support pipeline by engaging academia, government advisors, international aid agencies, and policy practitioners. Together, we’ll explore how to bridge gaps between stakeholders and unlock Access to Access for Entrepreneurs, ensuring diversity and inclusive growth in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
