In this talk, Professor Or Rosenboim from University of Bologna and current visiting fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre, presents her new book, Air and Love: A story of food, family, and belonging (Picador 2024). The book explores how the experience and politics of migration have shaped conceptions of displacement and belonging through the micro histories of families of migrants in 1860-1960. Moving around Central Asia, the Baltics and the Middle East, Rosenboim investigates how transnational stories - and food - of migrants reflect personal experiences of belonging as well as changing community identities, and shows what these stories can tell us about the making of world orders in the twentieth century.
