The symposium focuses on the decade of postwar planning which began in the early 1940s, before the Allied defeat of Fascism and Nazism and not yet fully shaped by Cold War mentalities. It explores various national, transnational, and international reconstruction programs that underscored the importance of higher education and knowledge in the reshaping of societies.
