As an emerging field, the history of knowledge combines a multitude of topics, approaches, and methodologies. Seven researchers from the History Department will present a primary source of their choice, which will open discussions around the challenges, questions, and inspirations behind their research. There will be 10 minutes for each presentation and 15 minutes for discussion. All presentations will be commented on by Prof. Lorraine Daston, Director emerita of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. The workshop will conclude with a roundtable on the directions for development for the history of knowledge. As a way of fostering intellectual exchange, this masterclass will be open to researchers of any field who would like to take part in the discussions without presenting their work. We will have the unique opportunity to learn from Professor Daston’s expertise, experience, approaches, and motivations and gain further insight into our own research.
