The Law, Rationalism, and Complexity Working Group hosts a lecture with Professor Amnon Reichman (University of Haifa), EUI Fernand Braudel Fellow.
In this talk, Professor Amnon Reichman will delve into Niklas Luhmann’s System Theory, examining its core principles and its enduring relevance to contemporary law and regulation in the 21st century. Professor Reichman will revisit the foundational structure of the theory, place it within its historical and intellectual context, and address key criticisms it has faced, offering potential responses to these critiques. Special attention will be given to the challenges and opportunities introduced by the "virtual dimension" in the 21st century and its implications for law and regulation.
