The populations of China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Russia are ageing and shrinking, while countries such as India, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Australia continue to grow. How will these divergent trends affect regional security dynamics and the structure of United States–led alliances in the Indo-Pacific?In this seminar, Andrew Oros will assess how technological change is mitigating the drawbacks of aging populations, as well as how factors such as autonomous defense systems and artificial intelligence present new challenges. At the EUI and the Robert Schuman Centre, we are dedicated to removing barriers and providing equal opportunities for everyone.
