Conference co-organized by the STG Chair AI and Democracy and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC)
Artificial intelligence (AI) represents one of the most disruptive tools of the 21st century, providing innovative solutions to the structural challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean. This region is caught in a set of development traps marked by low growth capacity, high inequality and low mobility and social cohesion, and weak institutional capacities and governance. This event seeks to analyze how AI can be a key to overcoming these traps, contributing to more inclusive, productive and sustainable development.
The conference will bring together experts, government representatives, private sector actors and civil society leaders to reflect on strategies aimed at placing AI at the service of collective well-being. Over two days, participants will discuss both the challenges and opportunities associated with the development and responsible use of AI in key sectors such as education, government transparency and productive development. Likewise, they will analyze the strategies needed for effective regulation of AI, both at the global, regional and national levels.
The conference, jointly organized by the STG Chair on AI and Democracy and the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), will be held at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago de Chile.
