Join this event to explore new models and practical approaches to evidence-based policymaking in an increasingly complex world.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, the intersection of evidence and policy-making is more critical than ever. This presentation examines the role of evidence in informing, shaping, and evaluating public policies across diverse domains, highlighting the challenges of bridging the gap between scientific research and practical policy-making, addressing the challenges of the 'post-fact' era and the overwhelming influx of information.

Drawing on real-world experiences at the EU level, Vladimír Šucha will explore the interplay between facts, values, and politics in policy-making, as well as innovative approaches to knowledge management, collective intelligence and the utilisation of knowledge communities to bring the best evidence to policy-makers' attention.

As the pace of change accelerates, forward-looking methodologies such as horizon scanning, megatrend analysis, and scenario planning will be explored. The presentation will also touch on the impact of artificial intelligence on governance and evidence-based policy formulation.

Key topics include:

-The divergence and convergence of policymaking and evidence-producing cycles

-Strategies for effective science-policy collaboration

-Lessons from evidence-policy interactions during emergenses

-Techniques for managing the deluge of data and information in policy contexts

-Citizen engagement in evidence gathering and policy shaping

-Future-oriented skills and methods for anticipatory policymaking

Designed for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners, this discussion offers insights into strengthening the role of evidence in policymaking and driving meaningful societal change.
