This talk explores the impact of digitalisation on copyright and examines the potential effects of copyleft within the European market, as well as in both European and international legal contexts. It delves into the evolving landscape of intellectual property, highlighting the shift from physical to intangible assets. While digitalisation has significantly increased accessibility, it has also disrupted traditional intellectual property frameworks. The discussion will evaluate common ownership structures and consider the challenges posed by intangible property, open source, and Creative Commons in relation to current legal systems. By examining the influence of copyleft on copyright and ownership laws, Ettore Lombardi will address the rights of authors and creators, as well as the legal limits and complications arising from these new forms of intangible asset ownership.
