This workshop explores the evolving intersection of trade, non-tariff measures (NTMs), and environmental protection, with particular focus to recent advancements in data and methodology.

A key feature of the workshop will be the presentation of a new global database on environmentally-related non-tariff measures, developed at the European University Institute. The workshop will also showcase recent findings and applications of advanced methods—including gravity models and difference-in-differences techniques—that have enhanced the interplay between trade and environmental policies.

The session will conclude with an engaging debate featuring panellists from academia and international organisations, offering diverse perspectives on the future of trade policy and environmental protection.
