Scholars and professionals from across the social sciences, humanities, and archival sciences will present new research on the evolving role of women in shaping European memory, identity, and historical narratives.
This conference examines women’s roles and gender dynamics in European history, politics, and society through four thematic panels. The first explores women as agents of change in European institutions; the second focuses on the construction of new narratives through media, representation, and public discourse; the third addresses digital archives and transnational memory in tracing women’s contributions; and the fourth considers gender, law, and social innovation, including efforts to mainstream gender in higher education and research.
Keynote lectures and discussions further highlight innovative methodologies, new sources, and interdisciplinary perspectives for integrating women’s experiences into the broader history of European integration.
The conference Women and Europe – Interdisciplinary approaches, innovative prospects, new sources is funded by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History at the University of Luxembourg, the Alcide de Gasperi Research Centre, the Historical Archives of the European Union and the EUI Robert Schuman Centre, with the support of the Robert Schuman Initiative for European Affairs at the University of Luxembourg.
The Conference is organized within the framework of the research projects The Role of Women in European and International Relations in Luxembourg’’ (after the Second World War) (University of Luxembourg, C²DH) and The female face of the EU: hidden histories, transnational dynamics, new approaches (HER-EUROPE) (C²DH, EUI/Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies 2024-2025).
