The European University Institute is pleased to launch its first Alumni Chapter in Brussels, hosted by the European Committee of the Regions. This special evening will bring together EUI alumni from across institutions to reconnect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the EUI’s presence at the heart of European policymaking. 

The event will feature an interactive panel debate on Gender and Democracy , followed by a networking reception. It is part of the EUI’s broader initiative to strengthen alumni engagement across key European capitals. The discussion explores the links between democratic backsliding and the rise of anti-gender movements, and the role universities must play in defending academic freedom, critical thinking, and inclusive values. As pressures grow globally, what responsibility should Europe take?
