The European University Institute, in collaboration with the Bank Policy Institute, hosts the 2026 Research Conference on Banking Regulation, bringing together academics, policymakers, and market participants to examine the evolving landscape of bank supervision and regulation.
Structured around a series of thematic research sessions, the conference will explore the value and informational role of bank supervision, its unintended consequences, and the interaction between supervisory practices, bank capital, and emerging risks, including those arising from digital innovation and cyber resilience. By combining academic research with practitioner insights, the programme aims to deepen understanding of how supervisory frameworks operate in practice and how they can adapt to a rapidly changing financial environment.
The programme also features a high-level panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges associated with advancing a European Savings and Investment Union, with contributions from senior figures in the public and private sectors. Michelle Bowman, Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve Board for Supervision, is invited to deliver a keynote speech.
To encourage open and candid discussion, the conference will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule.
The event is open to the public; however, advance registration is required, and space is limited.
At the EUI and the Robert Schuman Centre, we are dedicated to removing barriers and providing equal opportunities for everyone. Please indicate in the registration form your accessibility needs, if any. Alternatively, you can contact the logistics organiser of the event.
