Funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and coordinated by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), the FOSSR project is building the first Italian Open Cloud for the Social Sciences. FOSSR provides a collaborative digital environment that simplifies and harmonises researchers’ access to social science data from three major European research infrastructures - CESSDA, RISIS, and SHARE - through innovative interfaces, tools, and services. A core mission of FOSSR is to develop advanced solutions for data collection, analysis, prediction, and policy learning, empowering more effective, data-driven socioeconomic research. Following an overview of FOSSR, the presentation will introduce the Policy Learning Platform (PLP) - one of the project’s flagship toolkits. The PLP enables researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to predict policy impacts and design evidence-based scenarios across a wide range of social domains. It aspires to become a key resource for bridging theory and practice in data-driven policy learning, promoting open science, while advancing both scientific excellence and social welfare.Programme:14:00-14:30: FOSSR – Fostering Open Science in Social Science Research, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).14:30-15:00: coffee break15:00-16:15: Seminar 'Optimal Policy Learning in Stata/Python'.
