Organised by

Organised in the framework of the Mobilities in history working group, this event features a discussion with Christiane Reinecke (Europa-Universität Flensburg and current Fernand-Braudel Fellow at the EUI) on the terminology used in the study of human mobility.

This workshop provides the opportunity to compare and contrast the conceptualisations and terminologies of mobile people and is a platform for researchers from various disciplines and fields to exchange their perspective on the contested terminologies of mobile people.

Speaker:

Christiane Reinecke is the Chair for Modern European History at the Europa-Universität Flensburg. In one of her current research projects, she investigates the differences between European internal and external borders as well as the changing categories of mobile groups, approaching both developments as interrelated processes. Furthermore, she is one of the editors of the journals 'Geschichte und Gesellschaft and Moderne Stadtgeschichte' as well as of the online project 'Inventar der Migrationsbegriffe' (Inventory of Migration Terminology).
