Seminar Room 2, Badia Fiesolana

Organised by

In the framework of the SPS Departmental Seminar Series, this session features a talk by Max Weber Fellow Dima Alsajdeya and Jean Monnet Fellow Janis Grzybowski.

What, when, and where is Palestine, who speaks for it, and what are the consequences? This talk highlights the representation and governance of Palestine across different sites and by various actors, from the Occupied Territories to the UN in New York and from Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon to international courts in The Hague. As people under occupation and in exile, as diverse groups and institutions in resistance or collaboration, and in the idioms and imaginaries of international diplomacy and law, Palestinians are represented and governed in myriad ways at once. The session explores the connections and contradictions among these sites, scales, and actors to yield insights into the challenges of competing, and sometimes conflicting, representations and everyday governance.

The Zoom link will be sent upon registration.
