Organised by

The European University Institute is pleased to launch in London its first Alumni Chapter in the UK, generously hosted by the London School of Economics and Political Sciences - European Institute.

Participation in the event is upon invitation only (for enquiries: [email protected]).

This special evening will bring together EUI alumni from across the UK’s academic, policy, and professional spheres to reconnect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the EUI’s growing presence in a key global hub. It will feature an interactive panel discussion, 'Building New Bridges: EU–UK Relations', with distinguished speakers from both the European University Institute and the London School of Economics and Political Science - European Institute exploring the evolving dynamics of the EU–UK strategic relationship, including governance mechanisms, areas of cooperation, and the political, economic, and institutional challenges shaping the post-Brexit landscape.

About the panel discussion

The relationship between the European Union and the United Kingdom remains a complex, shifting landscape, moving from the initial negotiation of separation to the long-term process of institutional, economic and political co-operation. This panel brings together leading experts from the EUI and LSE to debate the strategic challenges and future trajectory of this relationship. We will explore key questions: How effective are the current governance mechanisms, such as the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, proving in practice? What are the prospects for co-operation across critical policy areas, including security, migration, climate action, and research, and education, and where do fundamental political divergences continue to hinder progress? Drawing on expertise in European politics, EU law, and British politics, the panellists will offer insights into the necessary 'new bridges' required to secure a stable and mutually beneficial partnership in an increasingly turbulent geopolitical world.

A networking reception will follow.
