MWP Multidisciplinary Research Workshop

The Florence Political Economy Applied Research Lab (PEARL) was jointly launched in September 2025 by the EUI Departments of Economics, Social and Political Sciences, and the School of Transnational Governance. The initiative was conceived to foster exchange among scholars interested in applied political economy. The PEARL PhD and Postdoc Workshop is an opportunity for early career researchers from both within and outside the EUI to get feedback on their work and connect with other scholars.

This workshop will be held in person at the EUI, presenting the pre-selected papers on applied political economy topics, such as—but not limited to— corruption and accountability, media, clientelism, conflict and political violence, immigration, state capacity, gender and political representation, organized crime during, and discussed by an EUI scholar working on related topics. Gemma Dipoppa, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Columbia University, will be the keynote speaker.
