The Alcide De Gasperi Research Centre (ADG) at the European University Institute will host the Seventh Annual Graduate Conference on the History of European Integration at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, on 14 - 15 September 2026.

The Annual Graduate Conference on the History of European Integration provides a unique opportunity for PhD and early career researchers to discuss ongoing research related to the history of European integration. The conference will consist of panel sessions to discuss selected research papers, as well as debates on historiographical and methodological approaches to European integration research.

The Conference aims to provide an informal atmosphere in which new ideas and research directions, as well as advice on publishing and academic careers, can be openly shared and debated.

Eligibility and Application Information

PhD and early career researchers (no more than 5 years from PhD completion) are invited to submit proposals. We encourage submissions on aspects of European cooperation and integration broadly conceived, twentieth century to the present. Of particular interest are papers that make use of newly available primary sources and innovative methodologies.

Applicants should submit their proposal for evaluation through this registration form. When registering your proposal, be sure to attach pdf files of (1) an abstract of no more than 500 words and (2) a short CV of 2 pages maximum.

The deadline to register your proposal is 14 April 2026 at 23:59.

Selected applicants for the Conference will be informed by mid May 2026.

Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for selected applicants. Ceilings on reimbursement will be provided following the selection procedure.
