Everyone has a right to a legal identity.
Yet, approximately 26% of the world population lives within states that discriminate based on sex in their citizenship law. That number is likely much higher when we take into account the different and intersecting dynamics of sex/gender on legal identity.
This webinar will discuss the effects of sex and gender on legal identity as well as the ways in which this can play out in women’s decisions and advocacy, as well as the role of demographic issues, reforms, and implementation of law for states in four Middle Eastern countries (Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria).
N.B. Please note this webinar will be recorded.
At the EUI and the Robert Schuman Centre, we are dedicated to removing barriers and providing equal opportunities for everyone. Please indicate in the registration form your accessibility needs, if any. Alternatively, you can contact the logistics organiser of the event.
