The School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute (EUI) will convene an invitation-only online roundtable dedicated to exploring the evolving opportunities for cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Australia in the field of energy policy and the broader energy transition process.

At a moment of profound geopolitical, economic, and technological transformation, both the EU and Australia are navigating ambitious decarbonisation pathways while also addressing pressing concerns related to energy security, industrial competitiveness, and strategic resilience. In parallel, Australia will be leading negotiations for COP31 in November 2026.

The discussion will focus on opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation on topics such as critical raw materials, clean manufacturing, supply chains, global energy markets, and the broader geopolitics of the energy transition.

The roundtable will bring together a carefully selected group of participants from both sides, including political and policy and regulatory representatives, private sector participants, academics, think tank experts and analysts to foster an open and forward-looking exchange of ideas.

The conversation and opening icebreaker presentation will be led by Antara Mascarenhas and Andrei Covatariu.

The event will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 Central European Time / 17:00 - 18:30 Australian Eastern Standard Time.

While the event is invitation-only, we may be able to accommodate further attendees. Should you like to request an invitation please contact Antara Mascarenhas (Antara.Mascarenhas@eui.eu) or Andrei Covatariu (Andrei.Covatariu@alumnifellows.eui.eu).
