The European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy, and Charles University (CU) in Prague, Czech Republic, are organising a joint institutional event to be held in the Patriotic Hall of Carolinum at Charles University on 22 October 2026.

This event aims to showcase the European University Institute (EUI) and the opportunities it offers to European academia, with particular emphasis on the Czech academic community. The programme will also include a keynote lecture on European Union politics by the EUI Professor Simon Hix.

The event will bring together local and national authorities, alongside senior representatives of the European University Institute and Charles University, as well as members of their respective academic and administrative communities. It will provide a valuable opportunity to learn more about the EUI, explore avenues for collaboration, and connect with colleagues and institutional partners.

As part of the Forum, on 23 October 2026, the 'Workshop in Comparative Politics for PhD researchers at Czech universities' will be taking place. The workshop, jointly organised by the EUI Widening Europe Programme, the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and the Czech Political Science Association, will provide PhD researchers with an opportunity to advance their research and to have their papers discussed in depth by international and Czech senior scholars, as well as by their peers.

The European University Institute Forum as Charles University is part of the EUI’s broader efforts to strengthen collaboration with higher education and research institutions in the Czech Republic, notably through its Widening Europe Programme. This programme aims to enhance European higher education and research by fostering partnerships between the EUI and national institutions in targeted countries. It offers a wide range of opportunities, activities, and resources for early-stage researchers, fellows, senior academics, and administrative staff.

Please note that this event is by invitation only. For any queries, please reach out to widening@eui.eu.
