Join the seventh meeting of the Interdisciplinary Research Cluster on International Thinking and Planetary Futures.
The Interdisciplinary Research Cluster on International Thinking and Planetary Futures brings together diverse perspectives from across the EUI to foster interdisciplinary discussions on the 'planetary' as an emerging area of study. The cluster aims to create an innovative space for multi-, trans-, and interdisciplinary dialogues that explore the planetary’s conceptual, empirical, and methodological dimensions.
The topic of the meeting is The End of the Planet.
During this meeting, we will explore AI from a planetary perspective, considering both the promises of technological progress and the potential existential risks it may pose.
We will be reading from the following list:
Marc Andreessen, "The Techno-Optimist Manifesto" (2023)
Dario Amodei, "The Adolescence of Technology" (2026)
Optional readings:
"Space and AI: The Final Frontier", Engelsberg Ideas
"Worlds More Habitable Than Earth? They’re Out There", The New York Times, October 13, 2026
