Celebrating its 36th anniversary, the Academy’s Summer Schools continue to offer an opportunity to actively engage in debates on challenging societal issues, with each course structured around presentations and lectures by leading international professors and practitioners. This year, both the course on The Law of the European Union and the course on Human Rights will take place from 16 to 27 June at the EUI's Villa Salviati.
The EU Law course will be held in a hybrid format, allowing for online or in-person participation, and will address the topics of European Data Law and the Challenges of European Refugee and Asylum Law and Policy.
The course on Human Rights will engage with the following question: 'Peace negotiations: What’s Law Got to Do with It?'. Participants will be required to actively participate and take part in moot negotiations, re-enactments, drafting exercises, and reflection sessions.
The courses are open to all postgraduate students and researchers who work in the field of law or human rights - including lawyers, barristers, specialists, practitioners, and professors - and who want to expand their legal notions through learning, engagement, and discussions of topical issues.
Interested applicants can apply here by 4 April 2025. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, so interested applicants are encouraged to apply early.
Applicants may request financial support. Funds are available for both the Human Rights course and the EU Law course through the EUI Widening Europe Programme and the Erasmus+ programme.
In addition, for the EU Law online course, reduced fees are offered to participants from lower-income countries.
