When you were at the EUI, what was your research on?
During my stay at EUI I had a comparative research project on housing conditions and housing policies in Europe. Looking at how different European regions compare in terms of living space per capita, but also in terms of policies to support families with children to access housing. I am still working on the latter.
Your time as a Max Weber fellow, how has that shaped you professionally?
The programme helped me professionally mainly in terms of giving me a better view of what research methods and what research topics are trending in my field. It also helped me to develop a bit more my international connections.
What is your fondest memory from your time in the Max Weber programme?
It was probably the Coppa Pavone, the football cup, which I was going to participate in, but in the end I didn't due to an injury in a training session. But it was a really good community experience when we were rooting for our team.
What advice would you give to current researchers at the EUI?
I think the most important thing for a PhD researcher who wants to pursue an academic career is to choose a topic, choose a goal that really motivates them because that can lead you through the hard periods during an academic career. You should keep that goal in mind and never abandon it because the motivation is the essence.
What brought you back to the EUI?
I'm here for the conference organised on the 20th anniversary of the Max Weber programme. I'm glad to be back and to participate in a panel on academic careers and the academic job market organised by my colleagues.
It's also nice to be back, to get into a nostalgic mood and to meet my colleagues again who I haven't seen for a while.
