The European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) is supporting European fact-checkers in the fight against disinformation concerning the situation in Ukraine.

EDMO's fact-checking network has detected a substantial increase of false news on the events happening in Ukraine, since the military invasion took place on the morning of 24 February. To this end, EDMO is keeping a regularly updated list of fact-checking articles published by the network during the crisis.

EDMO has also established a new taskforce to support in understanding disinformation trends in the war in Ukraine. The taskforce will focus on disinformation in EU and EEA countries, as well as the western Balkans, collecting and sorting relevant material covering various aspects such as fact-checking, investigations, rapid analysis, and research on disinformation campaigns, as well as specific media literacy initiatives.

The taskforce members will collaborate with the national and regional EDMO hubs, through small-scale online media projects and with relevant actors across Europe.
