The Global Citizenship research strand of the Global Governance Programme will host a seminar series with monthly meetings throughout the 2022/2023 academic year in order to foster exchange on the latest, cutting-edge research on citizenship.

We welcome both empirical and theoretical papers that explore the variations, determinants and/or implications of the legal regimes that govern the institution of citizenship at national, supranational and global levels. Papers with a comparative and/or a global dimension are especially welcome. See here for more information about the foci of the Global Citizenship research area.

The monthly events will be one hour long, including a twenty-minute presentation and fourty-minute discussion. Exceptionally an extended session may be organized around multiple thematically-related presentations. Presenters are expected to circulate their paper a week in advance; papers presented should be unpublished work-in-progress.

The sessions will be held every second or third Thursday of the month, from September to May.

Meetings will take place in-person in Villa Schifanoia according to European University Institute regulations and procedures allowed. On exceptional basis we may be able to accommodate remote presentations in our schedule.

You are invited to submit paper abstracts (max 300 words) by 24 June 2022 through the following link.
