The Historical Archives of the European Union, the official archives of the institutions, bodies and agencies of the European Union, welcomed members of the Inter-institutional Archives Group (IIAG) to Florence for the IIAG’s bi-annual meeting. It is the first time the Archives has hosted the meeting since 2012.

Participating members at the meeting include the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European External Action Service, the European Investment Bank, the European Court of Auditors, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, the European Environment Agency, the European Investment Fund, the European Committee of the Regions, as well as the European Ombudsman and the European Data Protection Supervisor.

The IIAG meets twice a year, usually in Luxemburg or Brussels, to discuss strategic questions, coordinate the yearly work plans and plan archival transfers to Florence. It is also the occasion to discuss best practices and prospects for innovation, such as digital preservation and digital access.  Meeting exceptionally in Florence, each depositing body also had the opportunity to meet with the HAEU archivists responsible for the institutional collections.
