Silvia Suteu has joined the Law Department as Chair in Law. Professor Suteu is an expert in the areas of comparative constitutional law, constitutional theory, and gender and law. Her research interests include the theory and practice of constitutional change, gender-sensitive constitution-making, and participatory and deliberative constitutionalism. She has a particular interest in transitional constitutionalism and Central and Eastern Europe. Her book, Eternity Clauses in Democratic Constitutionalism (2021), provides a critical analysis of the democratic challenges posed by unamendability and won the 2023 Book Prize of the International Society of Public Law (ICON-S). She is currently involved in research projects on unwritten and feminist constitutionalism, and co-leads the Feminist Judgments in Central and Eastern Europe Project. As an Associate Professor at the University College of London, Professor Suteu has taught courses on Comparative Constitutional Law, Gender, Law, and the State, and Comparative Human Rights Law and convened the Public Law Group.
Thomas Streinz has joined the Law Department as a part-time professor. Professor Streinz’s work focuses on digital governance and global law and technology, including the regulation of the global data economy. As an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York University (NYU), he has convened colloquia on the regulation of global digital corporations, taught courses on Global Data Law, and conducted interdisciplinary seminars on selected topics in Global Tech Law. Professor Streinz is currently the inaugural Executive Director of the Guarini Global Law and Tech initiative at NYU Law and a Fellow at its Institute for International Law and Justice. He is also a graduate of the EUI’s Academy of European Law, which he attended in 2012.
