The EUI and UNiSi share a similar commitment to supporting European integration through higher education and research in fields that are pivotal to European and global affairs. Having already cooperated on different occasions, this partnership further institutionalises the cooperation of the two universities through a more structured and long-term format, also in consideration of the proximity between the two institutions, re-confirming the relevance of academia based in Tuscany.
In the next five years, the two universities will enhance and expand collaboration in the fields of social sciences and humanities, namely political and social sciences, economics, history and civilisation, and law.
Together, the EUI and UniSi will implement a series of joint activities. Under the agreement, the two institutions will promote curricular internship schemes for master students, a mobility scheme for researchers at the doctoral and post-doctoral levels, as well as executive educational trainings, workshops, summer schools, and collaborative research projects.
The two universities will foster the promotion of visiting professorships, fellowships, sabbaticals, and staff visits, and will evaluate the possible future development of a mobility scheme for master students. The agreement also includes the exchange of publications, scientific and teaching material, scientific journals, as well as documentation on joint research.
Additionally, the EUI and UNiSi will benefit from a mutual exchange of experiences, namely through the creation of teaching opportunities for EUI PhD researchers at UNiSi, and through access to respective facilities for academic purposes, including the laboratory of experimental economics of the University of Siena (LBSI).
Founded in 1240, Università di Siena is one of the most ancient universities in the world, a renowned institution with an excellent reputation in research and teaching in the social sciences and humanities. UniSi's wide range of academic offerings trains students across a vast range of disciplines. Through its internationalisation strategy, UniSi has forged many strategic partnerships and joint academic agreements that attract students from some of the world's top universities.
