Biography

Mira Tiwari is a Research Associate at Knowledge, Governance and Transformations (KGT), part of the Global Governance Programme at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. At KGT she focuses on critical measurement and data use in evidence-informed policymaking for sustainable development and wellbeing. She is also the co-founder and facilitator of the Youth Council of Siena (Consiglio dei Giovani di Siena) with the Monte dei Paschi Foundation and the social cooperative Generazione T.

Mira specialises in societal learning, and to this end, she works on evidence-informed policy and on the nexus between science, policymakers, and citizens. Her focus is on system approaches based on local knowledges, decolonial understandings, socioecological systems, and critical data use.

She was formerly at the Florence School of Regulation - Climate, where she studied citizen perceptions of climate policy as part of the Horizon Europe project CAPABLE (Climate Policy Acceptability Economic Framework). She also formerly held a research position in Environmental Economics at the University of Siena, as part of Agritech, a PNRR project.

Prior to academia, her work has included public policy evaluation at the Institute for Public Policy Evaluation at the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento; supporting the establishment of the Jean Monnet Centre for International Cultural Relations and Diplomacy in Siena (CREDO); research on youth citizen deliberation on climate policy as part of the EUComMeet project, and at the Global Landscapes Forum; and supporting frontline communities' nature-based solutions to climate change in Latin America, the Asia Pacific, and Africa. She has worked in education consulting and curriculum development at the Hearth Education Advisors in Delhi; Social Science teaching at Creating Connections in Montalcino; and environmental and social sustainability education with Centered Lab and the Fondazione CR in Florence.

Mira has a BA in Education from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Public Diplomacy from the University of Siena.
